What is second authentication factor and how to enable it?

Authentication to any application can consist of several stages (factors). By default, in eLogin there is only one factor needed - the password (interchangeably with Windows login and certificate login). In such situation, it is sufficient for unauthorized person to find out your password, to be able to log into your account.

To make the potential breaking into your account harder, you can configure a second authentication factor using special application on your smartphone. The application for second authentication factor (2FA application), will generate a new six-digit code every 30 seconds, that you will have to provide during logging in. A malicious person, apart from stealing your password, will also have to gain access to your smartphone, in order to break into your account.

In order to enable second authentication factor on your account, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your eKonto using eLogin webpage.
  2. Choose Password from the menu.
  3. Choose Second factor from the menu or View details button under Second authentication factor sectrion.
  4. Choose Enable second factor button.
  5. Follow the instructions on the page.
back to questions

I lost access to the second authentication factor - what now?

If you have access to second authentication factor recovery codes (you will need at least two unused codes):

  1. During logging in, when prompted for second authentication factor code, use one of unused recovery codes.
  2. Chose Password from the menu.
  3. Choose Second factor from the menu or View details button under Second authentication factor sectrion.
  4. Choose Disable second factor button.
  5. Type one of unused recovery codes to disable second authentication factor.
  6. Now you can re-enable second authentication factor.

If you don't have access to second authentication factor recovery codes, report the problem to esupport@put.poznan.pl. The contents of the e-mail must include the name of your account and you phone number.
